Take me out to the Ballgame

YEA, Im so excited.  I got to take the kids to their first Ranger game.  I know they dont 'get it' but they had fun anyway.

Its been unbearable hot here, I think were going on day 55 or something like that of temps 100 and over. You walk outside and you instantly sweat, sexy I know.   I was worried how hot it would be for the kids so I figured we wing it and just see how they do.

Luckily, our seats were in shade, under an awning (is that what its called).  Even tho we were in shade, it was still hot and humid as hell.  The kids did not seem to notice

She stood the majority of the game.

He sat (when he wasnt playing the drums on the chair)

He pulled his glasses down to get a better view,

He drank lots of water

And she takes after me with a lemon (well strawberry) chill.  I cant go to the game and not get one

He cheered the Rangers on.

And she attempted to share her treat.

She kept yelling "Yea football, yea football"  I had to correct her by saying its baseball.  Shed tilt her had and say "Baseball mommy?  Yea Baseball"

Around the 7th inning, it was 10 PM and it was still 100 degrees.  They were done, I was tired and covered in sweat.

They had a blast, but her face told me it was time to go.

And he didnt make it out of the parking lot before passing out.

Im sure this is the first of many games that I will be taking them too.  Despite the heat, they did great.  No tears, no tantrums.

Note to self, bring more snacks  :)

The Greatest Show on Earth

We did it. We went to the circus. With two 2-yr olds.  And they LOVED it.

Here's a recap.
Im not sure how much they understood, but the whole drive there, the two kept saying "Going to circus, see elephants, going to circus, see elephants"  They seemed really excited to go,even if they had no idea what the circus was.

 We got there early so we went down to the floor to watch the pre-show.  Cole freaked out and wouldnt let go of anyone.  Elyse was ecstatic and kept pointing and saying "Look, whoaaaaaaaaaa, Look"  This is her impersonating the elephants.

(Use your imagination since you cant hear her making the noise)

Im not sure what it is about glow sticks, but they will keep my kids entertained for a long time.

I dont know about you, but when I think circus I think of clowns and cotton candy. Consider dinner spoiled.

They stared intently at the show, even if they wouldnt sit in their chairs 100% of the time.

And of course more cotton candy and some popcorn

Cole was super excited about the elephants, especially the baby elephants.

When they left the arena, he kept yelling "Bye bye baby elephants, bye bye"

They were my favorite too.

Im so glad we got to spend the day having so much fun, even if it ended with sugar rushes.
Who says you cant eat cotton candy for dinner?

Big Kid Beds

Ive been going back and forth for awhile debating on whether or not to move to kids to toddler beds.  They do not climb out of the cribs, unless there is something next to it that they can pull themselves over the top, so I didnt see any rush to move them.

Then it dawned on me.  They are 27 months old.  Its time.  What was I waiting for?  Reality is, I wasnt ready.  They can open doors and I didnt want them coming in and out all night when they should be sleeping.  So I made the decision, toddler beds it is. 

Luckily my mom is fantastic about finding things for SUPER cheap.  I told her I needed bedding of some sort for the new beds but didnt want to spend $50 on them.  (Seriously, its a toddler bed, why is it so much?)  Anyway, within days she found sets for both kids for $7, no Im not kidding, shes that good.  These included the sheets, pillow cases and the comforter.  I had no more excuses.

Out came the beds.  I set up their room to reflect a 'big kid' room which included the beds, table, puzzles, drive thru McDs set up and the buckets full of all the other randomness. It was time.

I walked them both to their room and said "Look, you have big kid beds now"  You would have thought Santa himself was there.  Cole ran, I mean literally ran to his bed yelling "WHOAAAAAAA, bisquit-ball, soco ball, MY BEEEEEEEEEEED" and then began to jump on it.  I let him, its only a few inches from the floor, he cant hurt himself that much can he?  Elyse did the same, "Whoaaaaaaaaa, pretty flowers, flowers on my bed with allllllllllllllll my stuff"   

Now at this time, it is only about 5 o'clock.  Their bedtime is between 730/8 depending on how long bath time takes.  Anyway, they both nudged me out of the room saying "Mommy we got night night, we go night night"  I walked out.  After about 10 minutes of silence, I peaked in the room.

Both kids were laid in their beds and covered by their blankets.  Cole was reading and Elyse was pretending to snore.  She saw me and began to giggle and say "Mommy, go night night, go night night"

That night, they only came out of the room once and slept the entire night in their OWN beds.

Last night same thing.  I went to check on them and I had to take a picture.

Hes cradling his coffee cup and keeps Scout close.

She HAS to have EVERY baby and bear she owns to sleep.

At least they sleep,

In their OWN beds.

Going Bonkers

There are rarely places where you can take 2 year olds where they will have a blast and not get trampled by bigger kids. They are just two tiny people ya know.

Anyway, thanks to my mom, we found Bonkers close to her house.  We thought why not.  Lets give it a try and see how the kids do.  If they hate it, were out $5, really only $5 for all 3 of us to get in.

Lets just say they LOVED it.  They stuck close to each other for the first few minutes, like they always do, then they took off in different directions always keeping an eye on each other, like they always do.  Heres what I could get before my camera died, like it always does.

Does anyone know hard it is to get 2 kids to look at the camera at the same time?  Im sure you do.

Oh oh oh so close

 

Oh screw it, thats as close as its getting.

We then went to the 2 and under area for them to slide.  The almost love sliding as much as swinging, almost.

I think she might want to be in the circus one day, she walked this tightrope thing for about 20 minutes.

And of course I had to join in the fun.

And look at these two, so cute.

Hes not that much taller than her, hes on his tip toes.

I cant believe how big they are getting.

This place was awesome and we will defiantly be going back.

Here Fishy Fishy

What does one do when you have kids, little amount of money, and need to get out of the house? Well, you got to the Dallas Children's Aquarium of course.  Kids get in free and on Saturday its only $6 for adults.  So off we went.

I wasnt sure how well they would do.  This is the first time we have gone to something like this.  You know indoors, lots of people around and the kids wanting to run around everywhere.  Let me just say, they did great.  They loved every minute of it and ohhed and awwed at all the fish/sharks/alligators/stingrays/etc.

Heres how our day went.  It was hot, we were glad to be inside.

As we entered, the kids immediately wanted out of their strollers.  This was fine, its kid friendly, what harm can they do?  We made our way to the fish tanks and the kids were in a trance.

 

They kept saying "Look mommy, Look" "Fish" "WHOOOOOOOOA"

After the fishes, we walked over to see the turtle.  I didnt even have to tell them what it was.  Elyse promptly said "WHOAA tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurtle" and Cole goes "Urtle mommy urtle" as he pointed with excitement.

She ran to it and yelled in her high pitched voice "Turtle come here, I kiss you now" as she made a kissy face.  (Pause as my heart melts)

When it was time to move on, Cole waved and yelled "Bye bye urtle, mumble mumble later"

We moved on but not before I could get a picture of them both getting up close and personal with him.

Next was the alligators.  I have never seen her so excited. She started jumping in circles yelling "Alligator, alligator, alligator"  She immediately pressed her face against the glass.

He wanted nothing to do with it as he slowly crept further and further away from the tank.  (I had to laugh)

Next was the hermit crabs.  He made noise, she dove in. (Would you expect anything different?)

While being covered in fish smell, we went down to see the stingrays and sharks.  They loved it.

I couldnt think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
